The Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award is an annual award, given to the author of the book that is voted most outstanding by students in grades 4-8, in participating schools. The award is given in honor of Rebecca Caudill, a longtime Urbana, Illinois resident and writer, in recognition of both her talent for writing and her ability to write books which appeal to a wide audience.
Ghost, by Jason Reynolds, was recently announced the winner of the 2019 award. (Fifty-one RCMS students cast their vote for the 2019 award. Our winning book as a school was Unbound by Ann E. Burg.)
